It’s been a while, hasn’t it?

Wow! So much has happened since we last talked. It was before Easter, and I was jibber-jabbering about 5 songs I heard on the radio that day. Well, I thought I’d check in with ya and give YOU an update on THE Joe Moran. Speaking of April 18th, did you know that is the date the Chicago White Sox opened the gates to their new home, which at the time was christened ‘Comiskey Park II’, against the Detoit Tigers? It was 1991, and the skies were overcast. Let me tell you, as a Sox fan that is ALL I want to remember about that day. Tony and his Tigers took a bite out of us. 16-0 after 9 innings. But I digress. Let’s get back to me. Shall we? 

So what have I been doing? Well I hope you’re sitting down because I’ve been busy. Ready? Ok. I took a few cooking lessons. Now, I know what you’re thinking: Take? Wouldn’t you be giving the lessons? Yes. Normally.

But, I can make rice and beans now. For years, this dish has had my number. Not anymore. Now, the rice is fluffy and the beans are full. Sometimes I’ll boil a couple of dogs - ya know two or tree - chop and mix ‘em in with the rice and beans. AMAZING! (Oprah voice)

I started working out again, too. For those of you who haven’t seen me in recent years, you may remember me as this fit, in shape, agile type of guy. Very athletic. Well, I’m sorry to say this but I kinda let myself go -  like big time. I’d show you pictures but I’m too embarrassed. When I tipped the scales in January, I weighed in at 285#. Keep in mind, I’m 5’7”. On a good day I can pull off 5’8”, or at least I used to.  I’d walk from my bed to the bathroom and be winded. It’s 10 or 12ft, people.  Needless to say I was overweight and needed to do something about it. 

I caught the running bug and started eating vegetables during the day.  I cut out beer but added whiskey and vodka to the menu.  I started doing sit - ups and push - ups every day, too. When I weighed myself last week the needle stopped at 188#! Can you believe it?! I lost 97# in the last 5 months! My goal is get back to 150-155# range. 

Let’s see… what else have I been doing? Hmmm. I became a part-time motivational speaker. My current seminar focuses on what it really means to know your surroundings and how to make them work to your advantage in life. So far I’ve been to Tucumcari, NM; Bend, OR; Evansville, IN and Bangor ME. It’s been an rewarding experience to talk to these people. Everyone of them are truly special in their own unique way.

Next month I’ll be unveiling my new seminar in Boston, MA. There are a few tickets left for this event. The first 100 people who email me before noon on Friday, May, 27th, 2011 will have a ticket at the will call window with their name on it. Remember, this is for the Boston event only. The new seminar’s main focus centers on building leadership skills that will generate more fulfillment in life. This one has people talking, so you might want to act fast.

I’m also single, AGAIN. What is it with me and relationships? I seem to attract more women than I can shake a stick at. In the last 3 years I’ve had 9 exclusive girlfriends and 2 fiances. My most recent ex is Diane. She did me wrong. Caught her with another man. You know the rest.
